Fucking fatal funnel had these dudes trapped for 10 minutes?
What makes American Rangers and Marines so different from these guys? We are the ones willing to actually press in after throwing the bangers. Stand to order for my squad was usually “bangers and mash” for basic flash cross and then clear. The violence of action is a more effective weapon than any tool that an operator can carry.

“Bangers and mash” I love it, I’m shamelessly stealing that one.
In order to win you need to think fast, move fast, act fast. The old adage I like is “do something, even if it’s wrong” because it’s usually less wrong than doing nothing.

I can honestly say that I’ve never cleared a room of bad guys, so props to you for doing so. And I was wondering, after the third flash-bang, when they were actually going to go into the room.

I kept looking, but I didn’t see anything particularly graphic about it. It looks like one of the soldiers is hit at the beginning, and maybe there are bodies on the floor. Did I miss something?
A pogo-stick, obviously.

True. One of the first things they taught us was “any action is better than no action”. React with an exponensial force of violence and sort shit out afterwards, otherwise you are more likely to go home in a body-bag.

Props to the Mexican Marines who are genuine to the cause, but so many of those guys get poached by the cartels that the advisors we rotate in and out for training are wasting so much time.
Most of society and even a lot of young, fresh/new military guys are so afraid of death they end up getting themselves and many of their buddies killed because of a fear of action. Generally people in this modern age are afriad of action because so many people are waiting in the wings to criticize anything anyone ever does.

Yes, it’s very easy to be an armchair quarterback when you’re not the one tossing the grenades. It is said that courage is not the lack of fear. It’s being afraid but going anyway. I don’t know if you can train that into people.

In my experience, this cannot be taught to Iraqis or Afghans. You only end up teaching them to be cruel to civilians because they use the training to instill fear in weaker minded people. Rangers, SEALs, D-boys all seem to be born with NAFoD (No apparent fear of death syndrome) and I believe it was taught to me in my early days and then after seeing, surviving, and accomplishing some horrific shit.

The diversity of equipment is interesting. I see Aimpoints and either Meprolight or Trijicon reflex sights, different foregrips including a grip/light combo the guy in red is using, and one or two underslung grenade launchers. One guy has a carry handle rear sight and an Aimpoint mounted on the handguard rails ahead of the carry handle.
The most interesting thing I saw - or rather didn’t - was the lack of suppressors. Those guys must have been completely deaf after the first few rounds fired.

I believe it was taught to me in my early days and then after seeing, surviving, and accomplishing some horrific shit.
As an armchair historian, I found myself thinking of the men who were drafted during WWII, the so-called Greatest Generation. I would wager that very few of these guys were NAFoD, but nevertheless, they managed to do a horrible job and get it done extraordinarily well. Perhaps they became enured to it in the same way you did. Perhaps they were used to a more hardscrabble life, and didn’t fear death quite as much as today’s Softest Generation. But the overwhelming majority of WWII soldiers were farmboys, and maybe their true motivation was simply to get the job done and go home, knowing that the way home led through Berlin or Tokyo.

That’s where I started, as the deployments wore on and we continued ops I started to revel in the general insanity of it all. Took me down a deep, dark hole.

One day, a man was walking down a street when he fell into a deep hole. The sides of the hole were smooth, and he could not climb out. After a while, a doctor came by and noticed the man in the hole. The man called out for help, and not knowing what else to do, the doctor tossed a prescription down into the hole and went on his way. Later that day, a priest walked by and noticed the man in the hole. Again, the man asked for help, and not knowing what to do, the priest tossed a Bible down into the hole. Finally, the man’s friend walked by the hole. The man called out to his friend, and the friend jumped down into the hole with him. The man said, “What are you doing? Now we’re both down here!” The man’s friend replied, “I know. But I’ve been here before. And I know the way out.”

Thankfully, I got married after I came off active duty. My wife has honestly pulled me through the deepest darkest shit without even really having to go in there with me.

The diversity of equipment is probably because (and I am assuming here) that operators can choose their own equipment. The crazy part to me was the complete lack of radio chatter, it seemed like the guy wearing the camera just yelled everything out.
